Flipside nail trend: what it is & ways to wear it

The trend that allows you to wear two manicures at once is proving popular – here’s why, as well as some nail inspiration.

Flipside manicures involve painting the top of nails with one colour, and painting the underside in another. Whether opting for contrasting hues, a coordinated colour scheme or a bold pattern, the trend is ideal for trend-setting individuals seeking a unique and quirky nail look.

Paris Fashion Week saw the trend make a striking statement on the Matières Fécales runway, where nail artist, Lora De Sousa, paired glossy black talons with a vibrant pop of red on the underside of the nails.

The trend has also been well-loved by celebrities, dating back to 2021 when singer & actress, Selena Gomez, opted for a look by her tech, Tom Bachik, which he coined his ‘French twist with a flipside’.
